'He death-rolled me': Robert Irwin recalls the horror moment he was pinned under 317kg crocodile
He is the son of the original crocodile hunter, but it doesn't mean Robert Irwin always gets the upper hand with the powerful beasts.During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon he revealed he was 'death rolled' by a 4.2 metre long crocodile, who was aptly named Jimmy Fallon.The 22-year-old conservationist turned TV star both in Australia and the US, was appearing on the talk show for an unbelievable 14th time when attention turned to the near-death experience.Watch the video above."I know you had a baby crocodile you named Jimmy Fallon," the host asked."I did. You know what Jimmy? He's not a baby anymore," Irwin began."I named this crocodile Jimmy Fallon years ago and he's now what we call a 'boss croc'. He's huge."READ MORE: Rule-breaking Met Gala selfie for 2026 is hereREAD MORE: Major star hides her new engagement ring at the MetIN PICTURES: All of the dazzling Met Gala after party looksAnd when he says huge, he means it, with the croc coming in at roughly 317-kilograms.Irwin then explained that his father had come up with the famous move to tackle a crocodile they researched in the wild – jumping on their backs – and he decided to give it a go with the croc in question."So I jumped on the back of Jimmy Fallon – and... he death-rolled me," he continued."I kid you not. 14-foot (4.2m) of crocodile – big croc – death-rolled me.""So I am stuck underneath him with my arm hanging out. I've got... probably 700 pounds on top of me. And I am just like, 'What do I do?'" Irwin recalled."And luckily he rolled back the other way and I was fine. I never thought I'd be out there dancing but at the core of everything I do, it's about continuing a legacy."Our conservation work goes from strength to strength."The charity Wildlife Warriors... that's what it's all about for me. Keeping that going."Wildlife Warriors was established in 2002 by Steve and Terri Irwin, and has been managed by Terri since Steve's death in September 2006, with Robert and his older sister Bindi also heavily involved.Fallon surprised Irwin with a photo of him appearing on the show at just 13.Irwin said that first appearance on the show was "a way to spread to spread my passion for conservation, really, for the first time, to America.
