Dave Hughes is known for his comedy prowess, but even he gets it wrong sometimes. The 55-year-old has admitted to an on-air faux pas that got him in hot water with his in-laws.On Stellar's podcast Something to Talk About, the comedian shared an instance when the boundaries were blurred between his personal and professional life.Watch the video above"I got in trouble years ago, actually, when my wife's grandmother passed and I was on radio," Hughsie shared."For some reason, I can't remember the actual incident or what triggered it, but I think we're talking about on radio and I might have got the giggles, which ... was inappropriate. "I knew that, but it's like laughing in church. Sometimes you're not meant to laugh, and so that's when you do laugh because you're not meant to. "That's probably one of the happiest times of your life, is when you're laughing when you're not meant to or to provide such joy for you that you can't contain.READ MORE: Kelly Clarkson's rare update on kids after ex-husband's deathREAD MORE: Nicola's shady move amid Beckham family feudREAD MORE: Legendary rocker dies at age 78"So I ended up getting the giggles, not directly related to her passing, but it was just an inappropriate time to laugh."I was trying to stop laughing, but I think her uncle was listening to the radio at the time and was very offended, and fair enough too. So that took a little bit to getting back on board."The incident taught him a valuable lesson. "Every now and again, you do cross the line, but yeah, I still think you're better off choosing laughter over crying when you can. It's okay to cry obviously, but yeah, at the end I choose to laugh."He utilised this attitude when he recently suffered from an injury sustained at an AFL charity match over four months ago, which landed him back in hospital six weeks after the fact. For a daily dose of 9honey, subscribe to our newsletter here.He told KISS radio hosts Will & Woody how he wound up back in a hospital gown."It's not just to get likes on my Instagram, even though it is really good for my Instagram," he joked."I had a heart scan because my doctor was worried about my heart, and then my heart was perfect."The person doing the scan said, 'Your right lung has just got heaps of fluid'. And I'm like, 'Well, that's cool. It's good to keep hydrated guys'. But, apparently, it's not. They had to suck it out. I thought it was only going to be a day procedure, but then they said, 'You've got to stay,'""I had a hose in my lung to get the fluid out. It was meant to stay overnight, but it fell out, and there were no doctors around to put it back."I asked, 'Can I just put it back in'? And they said no. So, I had to stay two days, which was annoying."He joked that people were commenting, "RIP Hughsey," adding, "They killed me off! I'm not dead people!""It's not just to get likes on my Instagram, even though it is really good for my Instagram," he joked.FOLLOW US ON WHATSAPP HERE: Stay across all the latest in celebrity, lifestyle and opinion via our WhatsApp channel.
