January 8, 2026 - Lucerne, Switzerland - After years of vision, preparation, and shared commitment among Rizalians across Europe, a historic chapter has finally come to life. The founding of the Ladies of Rizal Switzerland marks a powerful and long-awaited milestone, made possible through the collective support, trust, and encouragement of Rizalians throughout the European region.
Two defining dates now stand etched in its history: November 26, 2025, the official Foundation Day of the organization, and January 2, 2026, the Oath-Taking of its Founder and President. Together, these milestones signal not just the birth of an organization, but the formal establishment of a strong, values-driven Rizalian women’s presence in Switzerland, grounded in service, patriotism, and the enduring ideals of Dr. José Rizal.
The Oath-Taking Ceremony was held on January 2, 2026 in Brussels, Belgium, a symbolic and strategic setting that reflects the organization’s European foundation and international reach. The ceremony drew significance not only from its location, but from the broad Rizalian support it represented, affirming that this initiative was embraced and upheld by Rizalians well beyond national borders.
On this momentous occasion, Lady Michelle Ngo Salangsang was formally sworn in as Founder and President of the Ladies of Rizal Switzerland. In recognition of her leadership, perseverance, and unwavering dedication to Rizalism, she was conferred a Medal of Recognition by Sir Lino Paras, KGCR, Chairman of the Knights of Rizal European Council. The honor underscored the credibility, strength, and promise of the organization from its very inception.
Composed of committed officers and future esteemed members, the Ladies of Rizal Switzerland stands as a direct affiliate of the Knights of Rizal. While fully capable of standing independently, the organization maintains close collaboration with the Knights of Rizal and Rizalian charitable institutions worldwide. United by a shared purpose, the group is devoted to advancing Rizalism through education, cultural preservation, civic engagement, and humanitarian service. Its formation represents a long-recognized need and a collective aspiration among Rizalians in Europe to strengthen women’s leadership within the movement.
Lady Michelle Ngo Salangsang’s leadership is deeply rooted in lived experience and cultural pride. Born and raised in Paco, Manila, she is the daughter of a Cebuana mother and a father from Fujian, China. Her multicultural heritage has shaped her strong advocacy for education, equality, love of country, and cross-cultural understanding, values that resonate strongly with Rizal’s teachings and vision.
Together with her husband, Sir Yenz Salangsang, KCR, current Chapter Head of the Knights of Rizal Lucerne Chapter, Lady Michelle actively advances Rizalism in Switzerland. Their mission extends beyond organizational leadership. As parents, they are committed to raising their son, Jaden, with a deep sense of pride in his Filipino roots and an understanding that Filipino identity carries strength, dignity, and history wherever life may take him.
Lady Michelle expresses her profound gratitude to the Rizalian leaders across Europe whose guidance, trust, and steadfast support made this historic beginning possible: Sir Lino Paras, KGCR, Chairman of the Knights of Rizal European Council; Sir Antonio Guansing, KGCR, Senior Adviser, Europe Region Council; Sir Jim Rebong, KCGR, Europe Council; Sir Johnny Villa, KGOR, European Deputy Regional Commander; Sir Noubikko Ulanday; and Sir Virgilio Esguerra, KGCR. Their collective confidence stands as a testament to the unity and strength of the Rizalian community in Europe.
Looking ahead, the next milestone awaits. The Oath-Taking of Members is scheduled for February 27, 2026, to be held at Schloss Schauensee in Kriens, Lucerne, a distinguished 13th-century historical castle. The venue reflects a powerful bridge between history and the future, echoing the timeless relevance of Rizalism.
Deeply honored by the trust placed in her, Lady Michelle Ngo Salangsang reaffirms her commitment to serve wholeheartedly, lead with integrity, act with fairness, and build unity without reservation. Through the Ladies of Rizal Switzerland, she envisions a strong, compassionate, and purpose-driven Rizalian community, proudly supported by Rizalians across Europe and firmly anchored in the legacy of Dr. José Rizal.
