Keli Holiday reveals real reason he pulled out of Championships Day concert
Adam Hyde has revealed the reason he pulled out of his performance at the Royal Randwick's Championships Day.Hyde, who goes by his stage name Keli Holiday, was confirmed to play the races at the end of last year, before he pulled out earlier this week. The Dancing 2 singer took to his Instagram Story to explain the mishap, posting a video of a woman dancing at one of his gigs with text over the top.Watch the video above."Not playing the races FYI," he wrote."The gig was booked in the chaotic end of last year as a result of miscommunication within my team and wasn't the fault of ATC... apologies all around.""Anyway, here's some horsepower we can all get around," he wrote, speaking of the woman dancing. The gig was supposed to go ahead on April 4.The Australian Turf Club confirmed that Hyde, 36, had withdrawn from the show on Wednesday."The Australian Turf Club (ATC) advises that the scheduled performance by Keli Holiday at The Championships Day 1 has been cancelled," wrote the club in a statement shared to their social media pages."Keli Holiday's management has informed ATC of his decision to withdraw from the performance. We will provide further event updates where relevant."https://x.com/aus_turf_club/status/2021481429025128906?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E2021481429025128906%7Ctwgr%5E8f1657d15bf1858948bfc2bf6bca4ea493d9cad8%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fcelebrity.nine.com.au%2Flatest%2Fkeli-holiday-cancels-championships-race-day-concert-after-24-hours-abbie-chatfield%2Fc4cf99b6-0341-4004-8d81-41f426051260The sudden cancellation sparked speculation that the decision was due to his partner Abbie Chatfield's vocal opposition to the horse racing industry. Many critics took to social media to slam the Dancing2 singer's scheduled performance when it was initially announced, with the couple being labelled "hypocrites" by animal rights activists.Others said it was unfair to blame Chatfield for the event's cancellation, saying she probably doesn't have any say in what gigs Holiday plays.Chatfield, 30, has publicly vocalised her anti-racing stance, claiming she once even refused a paid appearance at a race day event."Guys, I thought we were done with the races," Chatfield said in an Instagram story in 2022, calling out celebrities for attending Derby Day."I thought that wasn't a thing anymore. Like, why are so many people going to the races. What the hell?"In a second clip posted at the time, Chatfield responded to fans asking if she'd ever been invited to a race event, to which she replied: "Yeah, I was offered money to go. A lot of money, I said f--k the races."Nine.com.au reached out to an official spokesperson for the Australian Turf Club who confirmed it was a decision made by Hyde and his team.FOLLOW US ON WHATSAPP HERE: Stay across all the latest in celebrity, lifestyle and opinion via our WhatsApp channel.
