Delta Goodrem was Australia's golden girl at the 2026 Eurovision Opening Ceremony, as the star turned heads in a sparkling mesh dress.The ARIA winner, 41, touched down in Vienna, Austria, to represent Australia at the 70th Eurovision Song Contest, adding one other Aussie touch.Goodrem dazzled in head-to-toe gold as she walked the turquoise carpet of the worldwide singing contest.Watch the video above.As she made her debut, she strutted down to a live orchestra version of ACDC's Thunderstruck. Goodrem is up on Friday in semi-final two, with the grand finale on Sunday morning.And while she joins a talented line-up of Aussies who have represented Australia in the competition including Dami Im, Jessica Mauboy, Guy Sebastian and Kate Miller-Heidke, there's one past singer she holds close to her heart.Goodrem told nine.com.au she feels "honoured and grateful" to follow in the footsteps of her biggest inspiration, Olivia Newton-John, who died in 2022 after a battle with breast cancer. While Goodrem is representing Australia, Newton-John represented the UK when she hit the Eurovision stage in 1974."I feel so inspired by the fact that my dearest love, Olivia Newton-John, and Celine Dion have both been on the Eurovision stage," she said."I wouldn't be the artist I am today without them. They're [my] inspiration. I'm really grateful that, as fate would have it, this year I get to be part of it as well."The singer says there are some surprises in store for her highly-anticipated performance, including a potential cameo from her husband and band member, Matthew Copley.Goodrem confirmed to nine.com.au he will be joining her in Vienna, before joking, "I can't tell you any more details than that.""He's very excited to be there and support, I'm very grateful for him to be there with me."Australia has never won Eurovision before, however came close in 2016 when Dami Im's performance of The Sound of Silence put her in second place.Austria's JJ won the coveted contest last year with the song Wasted Love; each year, Eurovision is held in the most recent winner's country.Australia has been invited as a guest nation to the annual European song contest since 2015.The Eurovision Song Contest airs 13-17 May exclusively on SBS and SBS On Demand.
