Cody Simpson has teased new music and a name change as he enters his 'single boy' era following his split from Emma McKeon.In 2024, the pop star and swimmer, 29, announced he was stepping away from the pool to focus once again on his music career after a five-year hiatus.Simpson has been teasing clips of his upcoming music on his TikTok and Instagram over the last few weeks.On Instagram, he's posted a photo of the blue square with the caption "Spring is coming."Simpson has also changed his profile picture to a plain blue background, a hue eagle-eyed fans have noticed is a reference to his poetry book Prince Neptune.The colour is associated with the book and a clothing brand the star launched in 2022, sparking speculation that a name change might be in the future as he re-launches his music career.Simpson has also been posting videos of himself in the studio, visibly excited to be working on new music.https://www.instagram.com/p/DVZNpmuEujs/In one clip, he dances with a producer in the studio while playing the intro to his new song.In another video, the singer explains the inspiration behind his new sound."After a year experimenting with music and writing song after song since my swimming career, I walked into the studio extremely open-minded and open-hearted," he said.Simpson said "a new sort of sound and colour wanted to come through" him."And it did," he said.He is playing the same short clip of his new song in this video.
