'They're really into it': Rose Byrne reveals what her sons think of her awards season ride
EXCLUSIVE: Rose Byrne is an Oscar and BAFTA nominee, with a Golden Globe and Independent Spirit Award already to her name this year.The Aussie actress tells nine.com.au her sons Rocco, 10, and Rafa, eight, do have some idea what's going on as Mum makes her away through awards season."They're super cute," she says on the BAFTAs red carpet.Watch the video above."They're excited and they're really into it – in a healthy way – and then they move on, but they're super cute and very cool about it."Byrne wore a diamante-covered lemon gown as she walked the red carpet alongside husband Bobby Cannavale at the UK's answer to the Oscars.She was nominated for portraying an unravelling mum attempting to manage her daughter's illness and her absentee husband in the drama If I Had Legs I'd Kick You.READ MORE: Stars dazzle on the 2026 BAFTAs red carpetREAD MORE: Bombshell update after Kyle and Jackie O's on-air clashREAD MORE: Aussies' hopes dashed as BAFTAs handed outThe intensity of the role seeped into her real life, Byrne confesses, saying she wasn't able to leave it all on set with this one, which she not only starred in but also served as Executive Producer on."I'm pretty good at doing church and state, but honestly, I didn't really switch off," she tells nine.com.au."I was a little paranoid at the end of the day, I was like 'Did we get this? Did we get this? Did we get this?'"I was just constantly marinating in my head about it and I was always a bit worried about it, a bit like the character, I think it started to seep in a little bit."Byrne labels the role of Linda - which has given the Aussie actress her first BAFTA and Oscar nominations of her career - as "such a gift"."It was just such an extraordinary opportunity, so I just didn't want to mess it up," she tells nine.com.au."I loved every second of it."One of the things Byrne loved about the role was working alongside fellow Australian actress Danielle Macdonald, best known for The Tourist with Jamie Dornan and Dumplin' with Jennifer Aniston.For a daily dose of 9honey, subscribe to our newsletter here."She had such hard scenes and she just came in and was unbelievable - she bats 1000," Byrne says of her Aussie co-star."She was so beautiful to chat with and her scenes were so pivotal."Though Byrne didn't take home the Outstanding Leading Actress award at the BAFTAs, losing out to Jessie Buckley, she has a few big awards show nominations still to come.After rubbing shoulders with the likes of Emma Stone, Leonardo DiCaprio, Paul Mescal and Paddington Bear at the BAFTAs, the Aussie has the Actor Awards (formerly known as the SAG Awards) and, of course, the Oscars.She'll be joined on the nominee list by Australian actor Jacob Elordi and Hamnet Production Designer Fiona Crombie, who also both lost out on their BAFTA nominations.FOLLOW US ON WHATSAPP HERE: Stay across all the latest in celebrity, lifestyle and opinion via our WhatsApp channel.
