In 2022, the Estonian government decided to remove war monuments dating from Soviet times in the eastern city of Narva.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova wrote on her telegram channel that the Estonians were added to the list “for crimes against the memory of those who liberated the world from Nazism and fascism,” adding that “there must be accountability! And this is just the beginning.”
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said “these are people who are responsible for decisions that are essentially a desecration of historical memory. These are the people who undertake hostile actions both against historical memory and against our country.”
According to Russian news outlet Mediazona, 59 Latvian MPs are “wanted” in Russia.”
